Manufacturing Month: High-Tech

Southwest Montana and the city of Butte are home to a wide variety of manufacturing businesses. Thanks to the well-educated, hard-working workforce of Montana, the manufacturers in the state are quite successful. Throughout the month of October, to celebrate Manufacturing Month, we are highlighting various producers in multiple industries, from food and beverage to machining. Here are six high-tech, advanced manufacturing companies located in Southwest Montana.

Rec Advanced Silicon Materials LLC

Silver Bow, Montana

From Norway to Japan, REC Silicon has offices around the world. Located on Rick Jones Way in Southwest Montana, REC Advanced Silicon Materials is a production facility where silicone and silane gasses are made for solar and electronic projects.

Resodyn Acoustic Mixers, Inc

Butte, Montana

ResonantAcoustic Mixing technologies allow Resodyn Acoustic Mixers, Inc. to “mix virtually anything at nearly any scale.” They mix powders, liquids, slurries and high viscosity materials for a number of organizations such as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and batteries.

Montana Precision Products

Butte, Montana

A joint venture between GE and SeaCast, Montana Precision Products is an aerospace manufacturing company. They create “tube and duct assemblies and small structural castings for aerospace and commercial applications.” Their mission is to create world class welding assemblies and net shape castings through technical innovation, continual improvement and teamwork.

Universal Technical Resource Services

Butte, Montana

With headquarters in New Jersey and offices around the country, the Butte office of Universal Technical Resource Services creates technological solutions to problems of wartime, programming, civil engineering and much more. Their mission is to “embrace the entrepreneurial spirit of our employees to deploy sustainable technology solutions to keep our warfighters, communities, infrastructure and skies safe.”

Creating the “next generation of biopesticides,” Laverlam International, Corp. researches, develops, manufactures and commercializes biopesticides. They strive to produce sustainable, safe products for growers around the world. They create novel pest control solutions that are eco-friendly and safe for the earth.

SepticNet is an advanced wastewater treatment. It is designed to be used on new home construction, to upgrade existing septic systems or as a wastewater treatment system for small communities.

BONUS: The Copper Tee

Butte, Montana

The Copper Tee is not a high-tech manufacturing company, but they do manufacture custom t-shirts! They are a custom print apparel shop and offer screen printing, relabeling, design and a variety of other services.

BONUS: Brooks’ Tru-Bore Bullet Molds

Butte, Montana

Another manufacturing company that does not quite fall into the high-tech industry is Brooks’ Tru-Bore Bullet Molds. The owner of Brooks’ is a champion shooter with a passion for high-quality bullets and creates multiple different bullet molds.

BONUS: UDAP Industries, Inc.

Butte, Montana

If you are an outdoorsman or woman in bear country, chances are you have a can of UDAP bear deterrent in your pack. When hiking in places like Yellowstone or Glacier National Park, it is important to have this product nearby. Founder Mark Matheny is a survivor of a grizzly bear attack in 1992 and used this terrifying experience to create his company. Along with bear deterrent, UDAP sells self-defense materials, bear-proof canisters and more.
