Foreign Trade Zone
Butte is Designated as a Foreign Trade Zone
What is a foreign trade zone?
Developed as a way to help American companies compete internationally, a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) is a regional area exempt from traditional U.S. Customs and Border Protections restrictions.
Materials imported to an FTZ are not subject to international duties or local taxes, allowing businesses to manipulate, process, or manufacture products at their facility and export the product to foreign markets without being assessed international duties.
One of approximately 250 Foreign Trade Zones in the United States, the Port of Montana provides companies an exceptional opportunity to use Butte-Silver Bow as a hub for domestic and international production.
The FTZ, along with Butte’s distribution infrastructure and established businesses, generates a great opportunity for businesses looking for growth opportunities.
